Sao Sao

In pairs, smooth and fluid for 45 mins:

  1. Gum sao (press hand against opponents body)
    • You straight lead –> partner does a low-to-medium energy parry –> thrust your forearm forward, trapping your partners hand between your forearm and the side of his neck
    • Your partner throws a straight lead –> parry, trap and strike –> partner medium energy parry –> double trap and press partners hand onto his body
    • Your partner throws a straight lead –> parry, trap and strike –> partner medium energy parry –> double trap and lop sao, then press partners hand/wrist across his other arm onto his body, with a slight twist of their wrist towards them
    • From HORP, trap and strike –> partner medium energy parrys –> yield elbow over, and retrap pressing partners hand into their body
  2. Tok sao (elbow lifting hand)
    • Partner does a straight lead –> slip to the outside, scoop (lift elbow) with your lead hand and shovel hook
    • From HORP, trap and strike –> partner medium energy parrys –> yield elbow over, cup elbow, [lift and shovel hook / turn and straight rear]
    • From HORP, trap and back fist –> partner parries on the inside –> using rear hand (going into lop sao), lift partners parry hand and lead backlist under parry arm, then lop sao and backlist over parry arm
  3. Jum sao (elbow pressing against body)
    • Partner does a straight lead –> slip to the inside and press your rear elbow against your partners rear arm/hand
    • From HORP, trap and strike –> partner medium energy parrys –> yield elbow over, and press elbow against partners parry hand and body
